Is there a minimum number of classes that I must run per week?

Here at Tappy Toes, our ethos is to be a ‘family friendly business’. Therefore we don’t impose minimum class numbers on our franchisees. We want you to be able to work around your family life. If you have young children, perhaps you want to start off with just a few classes per week? Then build your business up once they start school. We fully support you in this, as we really do want your Tappy Toes business to work for you.

Is there a maximum number of children allowed per class?

We do put restrictions on the class size. We don’t want our classes to feel impersonal. We love the fact that every one feels special in a Tappy Toes class and our training emphasises this for our franchisees. The lessons are structured for optimum learning. We want all our Tappy Toe-ers to feel acknowledged and valued within the class. We have capped our classes at 15 children per session, so that everyone can get the best out of the class, and you can still make an excellent profit.

Do I need to be a Dancer?

Whilst dance experience is a bonus for teaching Tappy Toes, you do not need to be a qualified dance teacher to be able to deliver our sessions safely and effectively. Thorough training is given, and the lesson plans are such that they can be safely taught by a non-dancer with the correct training. As long as you can count in time to the music and skip, we can train you on class delivery! The only lesson plans that cannot be delivered by a non-dancer are our Tip Toes ballet classes. You would need to hire a dance teacher in order to offer this add-on syllabus. There is also the option of hiring dance teachers to deliver all the sessions, if you would prefer to operate purely as the business owner.

What are the ongoing costs of being a franchisee?

As with any franchise you will pay a monthly management fee, otherwise known as a royalty fee. We keep ours at 10%, which is standard in the franchise industry. Our MSF (Monthly Service Fee) is taken at source, so you will barely even notice it. You won’t be presented with a bill at the end of the tax year. When a customer books a class with you, 10% is automatically directed straight to us and the rest to you, so you will always know where you are. We also give you your first term free to really help you launch your business! This means no fees are payable until your second term of Tappy Toes.

There is a national advertising levy. Again, this is normal for all franchises, and you will be told what this is spent on once you join the franchise. We can’t give away our trade secrets no can we!?  Our monthly advertising levy is set at £30 per month. We like to think of this as an investment rather than an expense, as you will definitely get more business from it than the £30 spend.

As with any business there will also be usual business running costs like accounting, CRM booking systems, stationary and travel expenses, which you would pay directly to suppliers and not to us.

How much is needed on top of the initial franchise fee for launch?

We always recommend a buffer of £500, on top of your franchise fee, for miscellaneous costs. There are always additional costs to starting your own business. Your buffer will pay for things like licences, DBS checks, first aid courses and local marketing. This buffer is paid directly to suppliers and not to us. You may not need all of it, but we’d highly recommend spending anything left over on your local marketing.

How many franchisees do you currently have?

There are 20 franchisees around the UK, however, we are growing rapidly, so by the time you read this there will probably be a few more! Our goal is to reach 40 by the end of 2022, we'd love you to come on that journey with us!

Can I see a sample of your syllabus?

Our main USP is our amazing lessons! So, as I’m sure you will appreciate we cannot share our lesson plans with anyone outside our network. If you are interested in joining our team, we would love to invite you to view your nearest class, so that you can see a lesson in action.

We can also reassure you, that the syllabus has been created by a professional dancer with over 30 years teaching experience in the industry. It has recently undergone a huge revamp, to ensure that everything within the syllabus is relevant, engaging and ensures optimum progression for our little dancers.

What Sets Tappy Toes apart from other Children’s Franchises?

As previously mentioned, our Syllabus is fantastic and a real USP. We also pride ourselves on our top-notch customer service. All our franchisees are trained thoroughly on how to deliver the BEST customer service to their dance families. We have solid systems and procedures in place to ensure our high standards are maintained across the network. We are extremely proud of this. Our 330 x 5-star reviews are testament to our unique offering!

As far as our franchisees are concerned our back up and support is second to none! We WON Best Franchise Support in the virtual franchise awards in both 2021 and 2022. Plus Best Franchise, New Entry, in the Work Buzz Awards 2021. This is awarded following an anonymous survey of all franchisees. We obtained 96% overall franchisee satisfaction.

How Much Can I earn as a Tappy Toes Business Owner?

This is the million-dollar question. You’ve probably heard it said before, that you get out, what you put in. This is certainly true with your Tappy Toes business. On average our franchisees turnover anything from 20-30k in their first year. If you are wanting to push things and grow rapidly, this could be exceeded, and equally if you only want to start off with a couple of classes, then this could be lower. We cannot guarantee your earnings, this is just a guideline, taken from existing franchisees accounts.
