Baby and Toddler Classes in Glasgow
My Journey to Dance
My name is Lynne Devine and I have just recently become the proud owner of Tappy Toes Glasgow. I can’t wait to meet you and teach your lovely children in my classes.
I grew up in Mount Florida, Glasgow where I started dancing lessons in a local hall. I also started ice skating at the age of 4years. My love of both dance and ice skating led me to combine both and progress to the world of ice dance. As a youngster I was soon competing in ice dance competitions throughout the United Kingdom.
Being Part Of Great Teams
I completed qualifications in dancing and in ice skating and even taught adults to skate. As an adult I worked as cabin crew for a well known airline. I became cabin manager and then as a trainer for crew. I loved my job as it took me all over the world but more importantly taught me that I enjoyed working and meeting people. My job didn’t stop me pursuing my love of dance and skating. Soon I had signed up to join a synchronised ice skating adult team and attended rehearsals on and off the ice weekly. With this wonderful team of fifteen skaters we won both the Scottish and British championships something I am immensely proud of.
Becoming a Mum and a Childhood Practitioner
I now have two beautiful children of my own. Isabella is 4 years old and Rosie is 2 and a half. During the pandemic the airline I worked for went into liquidation, the ice rink closed and the life I knew and loved changed dramatically. I decided I would retrain as a childhood practitioner and successfully graduated and completed my training in June 2021. Soon I had gained employment within a local authority nursery and currently work there two days a week. I love working with the children in my care and I feel proud when I see them master new skills and grow in confidence. My job still leaves me time to spend with my own children and to pursue my Tappy Toes adventure.
Why Tappy Toes?
I came across Tappy Toes when my mum saw it advertised and took my youngest daughter along. Rosie couldn’t go to anything during lockdown. She was 18 months old and had barely been in contact with anyone. No toddler groups, no nursery, no clubs, no friends! She was quiet and shy and lacking in confidence. My mum was a retired head teacher and worried about her.
Rosie loved Tappy Toes from the minute she walked through the door of the South Lanarkshire class. Soon we had a wee girl brimming with confidence, smiling, happy and thoroughly engaged. She wouldn’t take her Tappy Toes T- shirt off and even wore it to bed! She was learning her colours and in our house to this day it’s not just red. It’s Tappy Toes Red!!!!!!
I want this success and joy for every child and feel with my experience of working with young children, my dancing and skating backgrounds together we can achieve a perfect 10.
Come along to my classes starting soon in Mount Florida, Dennistoun and Hyndland and watch your little one thrive as they learn new routines, use colourful props, meet new friends but most of all have FUN!
