Hi I’m Clare and I’m so excited to be the owner of Tappy Toes Billericay, Basildon and surrounding areas! I can’t wait to connect with parents and carers of little ones in the community and get us all twirling and shaking!

Clare's Dance Journey

I developed a passion for all things dance and performance early on in life. My dance journey started with weekly ballet and ballroom classes, later adding on country dancing and hip hop. As a child, I ventured into amateur dramatics with my Mum, often sharing roles with my twin sister, creating amusing surprises for our audiences.

Throughout my school career I remained very active, representing my school for running and athletics and playing key roles in school performances.  This continued beyond my school years and as an adult, dancing and movement has become my happy place.

Teaching Experience

After leaving school, I spent 12 months volunteering as an English teacher in the Dominican Republic, which sparked my passion for children’s development. I graduated with a degree in Primary Education three years later from Canterbury Christ Church University and became a primary school teacher in Essex. Before long, I had itchy feet and a desire to explore and moved to Australia and later New Zealand, teaching in a variety of schools and settings! This deepened my understanding of how best to support individual learning styles and enable all children to shine!

Becoming a Mummy

After 12 wonderful years abroad, I started a new journey, this time into motherhood. This year I returned to the UK with my little boy who is now one! Becoming a mummy has been the best adventure yet, and I love seeing how music and movement engages and excites my son. Attending parent and baby classes has been so important for me! Not only have they got me out of the house, but they have really helped me to connect to other parents in the community and have become a massive part of my child’s development.

Starting Tappy Toes Billericay and Basildon

With my degree in education, I have now decided to seamlessly merge my love for teaching with my enthusiasm for dance. I have recognised the transformative power of dance in a child's life, not just as a physical activity but as a means of self-discovery and self-expression.  I am so excited to be joining the Tappy Toes family and teaching babies and toddlers across Essex. With classes starting in Billericay and Basildon in January 2024, parents can enrol their babies and toddlers into my dance classes and join in the fun, watching your little ones grow and thrive through the Tappy Toes syllabus.
