Adventures around the World

My journey to becoming a Tappy Toes owner is a little different to most! Having a business background and working in marketing since I graduated (more years ago than I care to admit!). I love being active and for most of my career I’ve worked in professional football and rugby – from Pittodrie Stadium in Aberdeen, to Hampden Park in Glasgow, Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh and even Qatar!

I moved to Qatar in 2012 with my husband and we lived there for 8 years. Initially I worked for the football league, helping to develop football in Qatar ahead of the FIFA 2022 World Cup.

Later, I joined an international school and it was one of my favourite jobs! I loved being part of the close-knit school community and there is nothing quite like the sound of children laughing to brighten your day! I loved being around children, you can’t help but smile! It was wonderful watching them grow up into confident young people and the experience left a lasting impression on me – I knew I wanted to work with children again in the future.

Back to Scotland

We moved back to Glasgow in 2020 to be close to our families before I gave birth to my daughter. I love being back in Scotland and being part of the community here. As my daughter got older, I started to think about going back to work. I knew I wanted to run my own business, work with children, do something active, and have a career that could be flexible around my family life so becoming a Tappy Toes owner was the perfect opportunity!

Tapping Our Toes

As a mum myself, I love finding new activities in and around Glasgow to do with my daughter. She has soooo much energy! Baby and toddler classes have been an amazing way for her to put that energy to good use!

When we first started Tappy Toes, she was going through a very clingy stage (as most toddlers do). In the first class she wouldn’t let go of me – I admit I did think ‘Oh no what have I signed us up for’! But at home I’d catch her doing some of the moves we learnt in class. She would be trying to sing some of the songs, so I knew we had to keep going back. I saw her grow in confidence and by the end of the term she didn’t want to leave class! She absolutely loves dancing now and all the songs have really helped to improve her speech. It’s amazing how much children can learn through dance and music.

The Benefits of Tappy Toes Dance Classes

Tappy Toes classes are all about having fun with your little one, building their confidence and developing life-long skills. But the classes are just as much for parents as they are for children – it’s a great way to meet other Mums and Dads who live in your area!

Having a weekly class to look forward to really helped me settle into a routine and we have lots of fun recreating all the moves and songs at home! I want everyone that comes to my classes to feel like they are part of a little Tappy Toes family and to really look forward to our 30 minutes every week! I can’t wait to see you in my class!
